Eva Gladek

Fundraising Track Lead

 

As the founder of Metabolic, Eva Gladek has a compelling drive to change the way our economy functions. Her passion and determination to shape a sustainable and circular future has led her to work with organizations in nearly every economic sector, from progressive cities and NGOs, to industry leaders. Eva welcomes the most complex sustainability questions from any sector with an approach grounded in science and systems thinking, a core foundation for all of Metabolic’s consulting, research, and venture building work.  Over the last 14 years, Eva Gladek has developed broadly-adopted methodologies for systems transformation, the circular economy, and sustainable design. Speaking at forums and events around the world, she shares her vision to accelerate a collective greater impact. She is also consistently listed among the top influencers in sustainability in the Netherlands, a country recognized as leading the transition to the circular economy. Eva works to create an economic system that benefits everyone. Eva serves as Founding Partner of the Resilient Futures Co-Lab, providing strategic oversight across all tracks and leading the Fundraising Track.

Jennifer Germaine

Stakeholder Engagement Track Lead

After facing three natural disasters that devastated the communities Jennifer lived within, she is dedicated to creating better economic models for planetary and community sustainability. Jennifer is a visionary strategist with over 15 years of experience in corporate law and legal strategy, where she has helped steward organizational growth and manage hundred-million-dollar funds. Based in Asheville, NC, she helps design regenerative funding models that direct capital into the hands of those building a thriving future. As Director of Finance at Blueprint for Impact, Jennifer is focused on reimagining financial systems and resource flows to support community resilience, environmental regeneration, and economic equity. Jennifer leads the Stakeholder Engagement Track for the Co-Lab.

Katie Hoffman

Capital Track Lead

 

Katie Hoffman focuses on innovative capital strategies for climate and systems change. With over 15 years spanning venture, public markets, and impact finance, she most recently served as general partner at SOSV, supporting a $306M climate and health fund in frontier hardware and deep-tech. Prior to that, she co-founded Regeneration.VC and helped build the ETHO ETF (NYSE: ETHO), together representing over $300M in AUM. A Senior Fellow at The Future US and former co-chair of NEXUS Global’s Energy Innovation & Environment Group, she has spent her career connecting next-generation wealth holders, policymakers, and institutions around impact-driven capital. She is the founder of Women Moving Markets, a global network of 300+ women leaders in finance and philanthropy advancing gender equity in capital deployment, and co-founder of the Climate+Positive Investing Alliance, a coalition of 75+ organizations advancing emissions data standards. Katie has been drawn to place-based work — partnering with communities, municipalities, and regional institutions to translate global capital strategies into local economic resilience.

Chris Monaghan

Portfolio Activation & Technical Assistance Track Lead

Chris joined Metabolic soon after its inception in 2012 and currently serves as the organization’s Ventures Director. Chris grew up near New York City and developed a motivation for economic transformation that places people and nature at the center. He has an academic background in international politics and environmental policy. Through various experiences working with startups and social businesses, Chris came to deeply believe in entrepreneurial approaches that matched the scale of our current challenges. Turning away from politics and Silicon Valley ideals, Chris became increasingly compelled by integrated approaches to systems change that combined good science and analysis with a human and practical approach to emerging technology. Chris leads the Portfolio Activation and Technical Assistance Track, responsible for identifying and curating fundable opportunities within the bioregion, developing assessment criteria, building the entrepreneur pipeline, and deploying microgrants.

Serena Joury

Strategic Initiatives Track Lead
 

Growing up by the Red Sea in Jordan taught Serena the value of protecting natural ecosystems and the role of interdisciplinary community-driven research in sustainability strategy development. She brought this vision to her studies in the United States and international research experiences in the sustainability field. Serena's expertise in stakeholder engagement, design thinking, and interdisciplinary collaboration has driven her research to address pivotal environmental, social, and economic challenges.

Known for her boundless energy and knack for thinking five steps ahead, Amy is constantly casting her net wide—reeling in opportunities, forging partnerships, and dreaming up big ideas to push the boundaries of the circular economy. She’s the one who catches the fish, setting the stage for the team to transform them into something extraordinary. Whether she’s presenting at global conferences, championing local initiatives, or brainstorming the next big thing over coffee, Amy leads with passion, creativity, and an unstoppable drive to make sustainability a way of life. Amy brings a deep network of relationships with businesses, municipalities, institutions, and community organizations across the Charlotte region, along with a track record of building collaborative infrastructure for systems-level change.

Raj Kalia

Dark Matter Capital Systems
 

Raj is Lead of Capital Investments at Dark Matter Capital Systems (DmCS), where he works across sectors, cities, and bioregions to develop the financial instruments and mechanisms needed to finance the novel infrastructures required for the 21st century. His work includes the valuation and analysis of natural capital. Raj brings more than 25 years of international experience in senior capital markets and asset management roles at global banks, having managed over US$8.0 billion in structured finance securitizations and derivatives, and developed new markets, structured financing solutions, and indexed instruments for hedge fund strategies. At Deutsche Bank in New York and London, he helped build the bank’s hedge fund financing and origination platform as European Head of the Structured Funds & Derivatives Group, and in Frankfurt served as Head of the FI Risk Advisory Group. At WestLB, he led the bank’s balance sheet hedge fund investment group and CLO securitizations. At Dark Matter Capital Systems, he has also led work across several systems investing initiatives, including the Sheffield Transition Financing Facility, Security Financing, and other capital structures and instruments across DmCS’ portfolios. Within the Co-Lab, Raj works closely with the Capital Track to lead fund/ facility structuring, as well as the development of financial instruments and investment frameworks that will channel capital into the bioregional portfolio.

Thao Nguyen

Dark Matter Capital Systems

 

Thao is a Capital Strategist at DmCS, bringing a background in venture capital and venture building to her work at the frontier of capital markets and systemic risk. At DmCS, her work spans continuity finance, outcome-based contracts, impact bonds, etc., exploring how capital can be structured to deliver measurable social and systemic value alongside financial returns. Thao supports the Capital Track with financial modeling, capital stack analysis, and deployment sequencing logic. Her work ensures that the Co-Lab's financial architecture is both technically sound and coherent with the initiative's transition goals.
